📢 Important Reminder Announcement for Parents! 📢
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Purcell Public Schools will hold the first of four Virtual Days this Friday, October 13th. I shared the news several months ago outlining the change in the school calendar, but I want to make sure that everyone has this day on their personal calendars. Teachers will be engaged in professional learning and collaboration, while students will have the opportunity to learn asynchronously from home.
During this virtual day, teachers will participate in valuable professional development sessions and collaborative activities. This dedicated time allows them to enhance their teaching practices, explore new instructional strategies, and share best practices with their colleagues. By investing in our teachers' growth and development, we aim to continuously improve the quality of education we provide for your children.
Research consistently shows that when educators have opportunities for collaboration and professional learning, it directly correlates with improved student achievement. By giving our teachers the time they need to collaborate with peers across grade levels or subject areas, they can exchange ideas, develop innovative teaching methods, and align curriculum standards effectively. Ultimately, this translates into enhanced classroom experiences for your child.
While our teachers engage in these important activities, we want to ensure that all students continue their learning journey independently from home. Students will receive asynchronous assignments or projects that they can complete at their own pace throughout the day. Teachers will provide clear instructions through online platforms such as Google Classroom or other designated platforms such as SeeSaw (Elementary).
Meal service will be provided for breakfast (8 a.m.-9 a.m.) and lunch (11 a.m.-12 p.m.) at both the Elementary School Cafeteria and High School Cafeteria. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity by visiting either location during the specified times. Students who receive meal benefits will receive them on this day as usual, and any Purcell PS student can visit either site.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we continue to prioritize the professional growth of our teachers and strive for excellence in education. Together, we can create a positive and enriching learning environment for all students. Your child’s school will send further information specific to their site throughout this week.
As a reminder, there are four planned Virtual Days on the school calendar, including October 13th, December 1st, February 2nd, and April 5th.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership!
Best regards,
Sheli McAdoo, Ph.D.
Superintendent
