Congratulations to the following students (see graphic) with perfect attendance during the 1st Quarter. No absences and no tardies! Good attendance is fundamental to student success. Students with good attendance tend to do better academically, build stronger social skills, and experience professional success after high school (colleges and employers place great value on good attendance). Great job students and parents!

We would like to congratulate and recognize Boston Knowles on becoming only the 2nd Purcell Football Player to surpass 4,000 career rushing yards. Boston accomplished this significant milestone during last week's win over Star Spencer! #GoDragons
Purcell High School Student of the Month: Parker Page
Our student of the month award is chosen by faculty and staff and recognizes the achievements and accomplishments of our seniors. Congratulations Parker!

We wish everyone a Happy Halloween from PHS. It's always great watching the kids (and adults!) have fun with their costumes. This may be the best from our staff yet! Great job.
Purcell High School Student of the Month: Dee Clevenger
Our student of the month award is chosen by faculty and staff and recognizes the achievements and accomplishments of our seniors. Congratulations Dee!
Last week our Spanish Club held it's monthly meeting. The officers served delicious food and discussed their upcoming community project which is providing needed items for our local Animal Shelter. They also learned more about the culture of the upcoming Day of the Dead. Thank you Spanish Club and sponsors Mayra Munoz and Irma Calixto for helping celebrate the diversity of our school and providing students important service learning opportunities. What a great organization!

Dragon Esports Mario Kart (Brendan, Bradley, Aj, and Fatima) pick up another big win over top ranked Billings. Purcell Mario Kart is 4-1 and ranked 10th in the state! The 20th ranked Rocket League team takes on the #21 Wolverines from Nebraska (not traveling to Nebraska).
Dragon Brew is selling hot beverages, chicken biscuits and breakfast burritos. It's rewarding watch these students take ownership of this operation and learn important business skills such as budgeting, inventory, advertising, and customer service. Great stuff.

PHS Art teacher Jon Corea and elective teachers April Trumbo and Mayra Munoz came up with the idea of a "word of the day" to promote literacy amongst our students. Literacy ( the ability to read, write, speak, and communicate) is best built through a love of reading books and learning new vocabulary. Jon and the other teachers developed this idea through their PLC collaborations and obviously will take advantage of Jon's artistic skills.
A PLC (professional learning community) provide teachers regular opportunities to meet and collaborate in order to drive school improvement. All PHS teachers are part of at least two PLC teams @ PHS.
Side Note: after our first word of the day (see pic), I quizzed two random students and both knew the previous word of the day. I awarded them both pizzas! Nothing ambiguous about those results!
Huge Congratulations to our talented choir program led by Cindy Donaldson and her assistant Shelby Wehunt for such a fun Halloween program yesterday. The spooky songs, creative costumes, and fun energy made for an engaging performance! Thank you for sharing your talents and Halloween spirit!

Our Healthcorp reps hosted our Wheel of Fitness today during lunch. Students spun the wheel, completed an exercise, and received a healthy snack. Addie Godkins and Presley Hayes are our reps this year and do a great job helping build healthy habits amongst our teenagers. Addie teaches weekly lessons as part of our new Freshman Leadership program. Freshman leadership is taught by PHS teacher Bryan Young. It was great seeing so many students participate.
