Today, our Boys Cross Country team went and competed in the 4A State Cross Country Meet. Dragon runners were Jaydon Polk, Erick Suarez, Tripp Eck, Cameron Coulter, Elijah Walker, Ethan Berger, and Cesar Suarez. Jayden Polk finished 6th out of 145 racers. I am so proud of all the hard work our cross country kids and our coaches, Ray Samford and Josh Beal, have put in to this season. Go Dragons!
PHS Spanish Club delivered their donations to the Animal Shelter yesterday and took some time to visit some of our local pets in need of a good home. Thank you to our Spanish Club members and sponsor Mayra Munoz for supporting such an important organization in the community. This is a great opportunity for our students to learn the value of service to community. #phsdragons
The Dragons fell to #2 Heritage Hall last night 56-41 in an exciting back and forth game. We are extremely proud of our players, coaches, and managers. They did an amazing job. Thanks as well to our fans who showed up strong last night! We appreciate their support. Great job band and cheer not only at the game but also leading our cross-country state send-off!

Aviation 1 students recently designed and launched hot air balloons as well as designed and tested wind tunnels. Aviation 1 is part of a four year program that provides students an opportunity to obtain a commercial drone license before they graduate. Aviation 1 is a foundational course that teaches students basic concepts of aerodynamics and flight. Aviation 1 is taught by Purcell Junior High Science teacher Corrynn Breidinger.

I was very impressed with the work of our 9th grade physical science classes taught by veteran PHS teacher Jack McNeely. They were working on their acid and bases lab with a goal of determining whether a liquid was an acid or base.
Many of us probably remember working on a science lab when attending school. This type of learning still combines all the elements of good instruction: discovery, inquiry, collaboration, and higher order thinking. Mr. McNeely teaches physical science, AP Physics, Anatomy & Zoology, and Aviation 2 at PHS. We appreciate his long service to the school and community and his dedication to his classes.
Well done Jack!

The Boys Team will run in the state meet tomorrow at 2:10 at Edmond Santa Fe. We enjoyed celebrating the teams success, and wish that the rain holds off tomorrow for a great state meet tomorrow. Congratulations to the following students (see graphic) with perfect attendance during the 1st Quarter. No absences and no tardies! Good attendance is fundamental to student success. Students with good attendance tend to do better academically, build stronger social skills, and experience professional success after high school (colleges and employers place great value on good attendance). Great job students and parents!
