It was a beautiful night for football last night at Conger Field as the Dragons faced Anadarko. The Dragons lost a close, exciting, back and forth game 45-42. Great job players, coaches, and managers. We appreciate your hard work. The band had a great half-time performance, the softball girls were honored, Hadleigh Harp made a field goal at half, and there was an amazing turnout for Lil Cheer Camp. Great job Cheerleaders and coach Grant Gish.

PHS Student Council Officers attended the District 8 OASC Fall Convention in downtown OKC. They had an amazing time networking and participating in team-building and leadership activities. As a former STUCO sponsor I know how beneficial attending District & State Conventions can be in building your leadership programs. Thank you sponsors Amy Stone & Leigh Ann McGregor for providing our students this opportunity. A special thanks to Mike Savage for driving our students to the convention.

Busy week ahead for Dragons Esports. I've become a big fan of our Esports program as I've learned how much it teaches students the skills needed in the modern workforce:
1. Tech skills: tech problems arise in gaming and players need the ability to problem solve.
2. Digital Literacy: players need proficiency in computers, networks, and gaming.
3. Leadership: strategy coordination and communication is highly important
4. Resilience: as in any competition, players must learn to deal with adversity.
I'm grateful we have a state-of-the-art facility to support this growing program!

Today I visited our PHS Leadership class and watched their presentations over the research they had completed on future career choices. This provided students an opportunity to practice important communication skills such as public speaking. Speaking in front of your peers (high schoolers can be a tough audience) can be very challenging. I was very proud of their work. Leadership classes help kids develop these important life skills. PHS Leadership is taught by Amy Stone, Purcell Secondary Schools Media Specialist.
PHS Senior Abbygail King is an Oklahoman Student of the Week nominee. She is an amazing leader in our school. Click on link below to vote. Voting ends at noon on Thursday
