Our FFA students excelled at the Elmore City Speech Context. I've enjoyed watching these students grow through this program. One of my highlights this year was helping judge their Mock Contest while they prepared for competition. The leadership skills and confidence they gain through this process has so many benefits for their future success. Well done!

SOLAR ECLIPSE VIEWING TOMORROW!
Tomorrow all high school students will have the opportunity to view the rare Solar Eclipse (the next total eclipse viewing in the U.S. is in 2044). Although we are not in the zone of totality we will see a rare 90% solar eclipse (weather permitting). Regardless of whether the clouds cooperate this is an opportunity for students to learn about the science of solar eclipses and experience a rare event. Please see the attached form for more information about safety protocols. Remember: students must have submitted a signed permission form to their advisor to view the eclipse.

Congratulations Emma Rolin: PHS Staff of the Month. Please read a tribute of Emma from one of her colleagues:
She is a great educator who is constantly creating fun creative lessons for her students, making science fun for the kids. She also does so much for the school and helps a lot with STUCO. Rolin is great with students and staff alike, treating everyone with the same caring respectful attitude. She's definitely an example of Dragons FIRST!

Healthcorp has made such a positive impact in our school this year. Presley Hayes is a regional program manager with Healthcorp and teaches lessons weekly in coordination with Stefanie Renfro and our Family and Consumer Science program. Their main purpose is promoting healthy habits amongst our students. Her projects this year have included Hydration Stations and Green Flags / Red Flags which helps promote healthy relationships with teenagers. Last week she taught them how to make healthy snack alternatives.
She has made a difference amongst our students. Thank you Healthcorp and Presley!
Thank you to the McClain County Sheriff's Department for providing security for our PHS Prom. You helped make our prom a safe and fun event for the students. We would also like to thank Gisela and the Grand Canadian for your hospitality and providing such a great venue. We are thankful for our community partners!
