PHS Academic Team continues a strong season by finishing 2nd at district competition this week. I heard there were some tough questions! They will continue their season next month at Regionals! #phsdragons

Purcell High School October Student Athletes of the Month: Ella Resendiz and Christian Kirk. Ella is the daughter of Morgan and Modesto Resendiz. Ella plays fast-pitch softball, slow-pitch softball, and track for the Dragons. Ella also is a member of student council, spanish club, and national honor society. Ella is a track champion in shotput, has had two state appearances on the softball team, has been named the district player of the year and district pitcher of the year twice in her high school career. Ella's favorite classes are trigonometry and english. Her plan after graduation is to attend Oklahoma Christian University for softball and get a degree in nursing. Christian Kirk is the son of Ciara Register and Kevin Douglas. Christian is a member of both the football and golf teams, and also a member of the national honor society. Christian is a Letter P recipient, and has been on the superintendent's honor roll. His favorite class is athletic fitness with Coach Harwell. His plan after graduation is to attend the University of Oklahoma and graduate with a degree in meteorology and atmospheric science. Congratulations Ella and Christian! What a huge accomplishment for our FFA Program this week at the State Opening and Closing Ceremonies Contest in Stillwater. Our team was 1 of 2 teams selected out of our Preliminary heat to compete in the final 8 out of 50 teams. They fell a little short in the finals, but we couldn’t be more proud of this group for how well they performed. Additionally freshman Justus Fulbright was 1 of 50 students to qualify for the State FFA Greenhand Quiz contest. These achievements and the growth of this program reflects the hard work of these students and the leadership of Erica Keen. #phsdragons

10 girls make the All District Team and Coach Jones named All District coach of the year. Congratulations to our Lady Dragons on being named to the All District Team. Remember, opening state game is tomorrow at 10 AM at Devon Park. Go Dragons!!

As our Lady Dragons open State Tournament competition on Thursday (no school), we want to make sure everyone has an opportunity to celebrate their achievements and wish them luck. We will host a send-off celebration and drive thru of all school sites tomorrow (Wednesday). They will end up at the front of the high school at approximately 11 AM for a celebration. The schedule is copied below. Parents are more than welcome to join us. Cross country travels to Lindsay for the Canadian Valley Conference Cross Country Meet. It will be held at the Lindsay Golf Course, 11086 114th St. Junior High will start at 4:15, and High School will start at 4:45. Go Dragons!

The field has been set. Our Lady Dragons start their state run with Verdigris on Thursday at 10 AM. All games will be played at Devon Park. Tickets can be purchased using the attached QR Code, or by going to gofan.co . GoFan tickets are $10. Tickets will be available at the gate for $13. All state softball games are being streamed via NFHS Network by the OSSAA. Please look at the attached photos regarding Devon Park and the clear bag policy and prohibited items. The Dragon Pride Marching Band placed 8th out of 30 bands Saturday night at the OBA State Marching Championships in Yukon. What an accomplishment for this group who improved each week throughout their season. Congratulations and great job to all band members and director David Hilger and asst. director Jacob Willing. #phsdragons

The Dragon Pride Marching Band qualified for the finals tonight at the OBA State Marching Band Championships at Yukon High School! They perform at 8:30. We are so proud of them!

It was a beautiful night for football last night at Conger Field as the Dragons faced Anadarko. The Dragons lost a close, exciting, back and forth game 45-42. Great job players, coaches, and managers. We appreciate your hard work. The band had a great half-time performance, the softball girls were honored, Hadleigh Harp made a field goal at half, and there was an amazing turnout for Lil Cheer Camp. Great job Cheerleaders and coach Grant Gish. #phsdragons

The Dragon Pride Marching Band had an outstanding performance this morning at the OBA State Marching Championship preliminary performances. Congratulations to all members, pit crew, and Band Director David Hilger, Asst. Director Jacob Willing, and Color Guard Instructor Alexus Longley. These students amaze me. They play late at our football game, get up before dawn, warm-up and perform at Yukon High School at 9AM! These students and instructors work so hard. We are proud of you. They will find out if they make the finals later today. #phsdragons

PHS Student Council Officers attended the District 8 OASC Fall Convention in downtown OKC. They had an amazing time networking and participating in team-building and leadership activities. As a former STUCO sponsor I know how beneficial attending District & State Conventions can be in building your leadership programs.
