Dear Parents and Guardians,
As the school year draws to a close, I want to take a moment to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support throughout the academic year. Together, we have achieved remarkable success and have laid a strong foundation for the future of our students.
As we bid farewell to the current academic year and embrace the upcoming summer break, it is with great excitement that I share some exciting updates regarding the projects that will enhance safety and educational opportunities within our district.
Thanks to the FEMA Grant, we will soon be able to build a community storm shelter at the Junior High School, transforming it into a competition gym, and provide new safe rooms in both the Elementary and Intermediate Schools, ensuring the protection and well-being of our students during severe weather events. A new barn for the FFA program, total remodel of Elementary gymnasium and additional parking at the JH/HS are also necessary and important projects. These projects are vital investments that prioritize the safety and growth of our students.
Furthermore, I am delighted to inform you that the community will have an opportunity to support these projects and make a lasting impact in our schools. We will be sharing more details in the coming weeks on how you can actively participate in the efforts and contribute to the realization of these essential additions to our district through a proposed no tax increase bond issue. Your support is invaluable, and together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of our students.
As we embark on the summer vacation, it is essential to keep the flame of learning alive. Encouraging continued growth and development during this break will provide a solid educational foundation for your child. Here are a few strategies to reinforce learning at home:
1. Encourage reading: Encourage your child to explore different genres and spend time immersed in the wonders of books. Pioneer Public Library often offer summer reading programs that can provide additional motivation.
2. Explore educational activities: Engage in educational activities or hobbies that align with your child's interests. This could include puzzles, educational apps, science experiments, or art projects. Your child also continues to have access to the Varsity Tutoring program that is free of charge and provided by the District.
3. Collaborate with the community: Explore local community programs, museums, or events that foster educational experiences. Many organizations offer summer programs that combine learning and fun.
Additionally, I am delighted to announce that our Summer Feeding program is set to commence from May 20, 2024, to July 26, 2024, at Purcell Elementary School. We will also offer Tuesday Meal Pick-ups at Southway Mobile Home Park, ensuring that our students have access to nutritious meals throughout the summer. We highly encourage you to take advantage of this program and ensure your child receives the proper nutrition they need during the break.
Lastly, I would like to express my gratitude to our dedicated teachers, administrators, and staff for their remarkable efforts in educating and nurturing our students. Together, we have created a learning environment that promotes growth, safety, and academic excellence.
Please enjoy a safe and restful summer break with your family and loved ones. The next academic year holds great promise for our students, and I look forward to continuing our journey together.
Warmest regards,
Dr. Sheli McAdoo
