Pre-K and Kindergarten Enrollment

Information specific to students and families enrolling a PreK or Kindergarten student in Purcell Public Schools.

Pre-K Program Details

Purcell Public Schools Pre-K program is voluntary and offered as a service to the community. This is a collaboration between Delta Head Start and Purcell Public Schools. Our PreK program is a big part of our elementary school and serves students from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM. There are limited spots in our program. These fill up quickly. If all spots are filled, your name will be put on a waiting list and you will be contacted when a spot opens.

Submitting this PreK Registration Application puts your name on a list as being interested in your child attending our PreK next year. If you are applying for a transfer, your transfer application will be time stamped when you turn that in to our office. Official enrollment will happen in July. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer transportation for Pre-Kindergarten students.

Our Pre-K program fosters all areas of development: intellectual, language, physical and social, emotional within an active, appropriate early childhood environment. This early learning opportunity uses play and hands-on materials as a means of discovering and learning concepts that are of high interest to this age group. The Pre-Kindergarten structure and routine help students develop school behaviors that support successful learning in following years. Some examples of those school behaviors would be working with others in small groups, listening as another is speaking, making choices, taking turns, problem-solving and building peer relationships.

Eligibility:

  • Students must be 4 years old before September 1st and cannot already be 5 years old.

  • Students must live in the Purcell Public School District or have an approved transfer.

  • Students must meet immunization requirements for the state or have an exemption on file with the Ok State Dept. of Health before the first day of school.

  • Students must be potty trained.

Students currently enrolled in the Head Start 3-year-old program are not required to complete a new Head Start application but those that DO NOT reside in the Purcell School District are required to complete a student transfer form. Transfers will be processed once in-district students have been served and will be time stamped. Parents will be contacted by our office when transfers are approved. We encourage you to apply in both your home school district as well as our district to ensure your child has a spot in a PreK program.
