PES September Teacher & Staff of the Month: 1st Grade Teacher Mrs. Cristian Haynes & Reading Assistant Mrs. Destiny James Read what their colleagues had to say about them: Cristian: -She goes above and beyond to help others feel supported and part of the team. She is an excellent asset to PES! -She is always willing to help and is a great team player! First grade is lucky to have her! -She is so kind and helpful. She really is a Dragon through and through! Destiny: -Destiny is an absolute rockstar! She is always helping out and offering her time and assistance wherever needed! We need more Destinys in the world! -Her work ethic is unmatched. She goes above and beyond on the reading team, as well as to help classroom teachers. So many students have formed a strong bond with her because she is so helpful and nice! -Destiny always has an awesome attitude! We are blessed to have her in our class and I can tell she loves what she does and loves the kids! PES get ready!! Red Ribbon Week is THIS coming week, Oct 28th-Nov 1st and the theme is - Life is a Movie, Film Drug-Free. ❤️🐲 Please remember that costumes need to be kept at a minimum to ensure that students can remove them easily for bathroom trips, recess, and PE. Sending a change of clothes in their backpack is a good idea because students often tire of wearing their costume all day. Thank you for helping us keep costumes happy and friendly selections without blood, gore, or fright. Thank you for helping us celebrate Drug-Free Week in a sweet, non-scary, fun, way!

Pre-K enjoyed a visit from Sparky and the Purcell Fire Department yesterday. As a part of Fire Prevention week, our local fire department came and educated us on fire safety. The students got to see the rescue gear, hold equipment, and explore the firetruck. Thank you so much for the experience!

Thank you so much Yvonne Chambers, OCCC Professor of Nursing, for having your nursing students create a pediatric health fair for our students! It was very informative for our students; they had so much fun learning! This was our 2nd Annual Pediatric Health Fair and we look forward to this tradition continuing! Students participated in 7 stations during their PE/Music time that presented on being healthy yesterday. Team 1: Healthy eating (Kid-friendly nutrition and the importance of breakfast before school) Team 2: Get moving! (Reduced screen time and importance of proper exercise) Team 3: Anti-bullying (kind speech) Team 4: Stop the Germs! (Proper handwashing, cover your cough/sneeze) Team 5: Dental Health (proper brushing/tooth decay) Team 6: Safety First! (prevent injuries and helmet safety) Team 7: Healthy hygiene (importance of routine shower/bath and using deodorant when needed) Team 8: Sleep well! (Proper sleep for kids and keeping a bedtime routine) Thank you for helping us learn to be healthy and make healthy habits! #DragonCARES♥️🐲 #occcnursing #OCCC #pediatrichealthfair

PES students have been working very hard to master the jump rope. What started as frustration for most of them, has been turned into success and I am SO proud of their accomplishments!! You may have seen the bracelet(s) they were awarded. These bracelets were not given out freely, they had to be earned. For the Kangaroo Club- Kindergarten must complete 5 jumps in a row without messing up. 1st grade must do 10 jumps and 2nd must do 15 jumps. Students who could jump for 1, 2, or 3 minutes without stopping qualified for the 1, 2, and 3-minute clubs! That's a LOT of jumping!! Way to go Dragons and thank you, Coach Wilkins, for teaching us about jumping rope!
